We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical engineering design and delivery for commercial, institutional, municipal, and related infrastructure projects. This position emphasizes engineering calculations, design documents, coordination, and construction support—not electrical installation, maintenance, or technician-only work. The successful candidate will provide technical guidance and quality review for junior engineers and design staff.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead electrical design for power distribution, service and feeder systems, lighting, equipment connections, grounding/bonding, and communications or low-voltage interfaces within project scope.
· Prepare and review one-line diagrams, panel schedules, electrical layouts, load calculations, short-circuit and protective-device coordination studies, and arc-flash assessments when applicable.
· Develop design criteria, technical specifications, construction drawings, cost-conscious equipment selections, and coordinated bid/construction documents.
· Develop life safety power distribution system design for life safety loads such as egress lighting and smoke control systems.
· Coordinate electrical system requirements with mechanical, plumbing, civil, structural, architectural, owner, utility, and contractor stakeholders.
· Apply adopted electrical/building codes and relevant NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and jurisdictional requirements to the assigned project.
· Perform technical and quality-control reviews; supervise and mentor junior engineers and designers.
· Review contractor RFIs, shop drawings, equipment submittals, field conditions and proposed changes; support inspections, testing, startup, and commissioning as required.
· Manage design tasks, communicate project risks, and deliver accurate work across multiple assignments.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
· Active Professional Engineer (PE) license, with eligibility to obtain Georgia licensure if needed for assigned work.
· Eight or more years of progressive electrical engineering design experience, including independent preparation or review of engineering documents.
· Strong understanding of electrical power distribution, calculations, design coordination, construction documentation, and applicable codes.
· Ability to lead technical design work, communicate with stakeholders, review others’ work, and support projects from design through construction.
· Consulting engineering for buildings, municipal infrastructure, institutional facilities, or industrial projects.
· Experience with AutoCAD, Revit MEP, SKM PowerTools, ETAP, or similar design/analysis software.
· Project experience involving medium-voltage systems, standby power, arc-flash/coordination studies, or controls interfaces.
· Experience mentoring early-career engineers and supporting commissioning or field engineering.
Benefits:
• 2 weeks per year paid time off (PTO), as well as paid holidays offered by the Company.
• Participate in the Company’s 401 (k) plan
• Company benefits that include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term and long- term disability plans, as well as plans offered by ALFAC.
